Oct. 23, 2023 -- Subway, one of the world’s largest restaurant brands, has officially opened its second global dual-headquarters in Shelton, Conn., building on five decades of history in the region.
Located in the heart of the Shelton business district at 1 Corporate Drive, the new office space is designed to enhance the employee experience and advance the brand’s multi-year transformation journey to improve across all aspects of its business.
With nearly 90,000 square feet across three floors, the office features an open floor plan with a variety of conference, huddle and multipurpose rooms, as well as The Lounge, an energizing space for employees to meet, dine and socialize. Along with an upgraded, modernized workspace, Subway employees have access to on-site amenities located within R.D. Scintos’ Enterprise Corporate Park, including multiple dining options, state-of-the art fitness centers, complimentary recreational activities, healthcare providers, beauty salon and spas, and childcare centers.
“Connecticut has been at the heart of Subway’s story for nearly 60 years,” said John Chidsey, Chief Executive Officer of Subway. “The strategic relocation of our global dual-headquarters to Shelton will provide employees with a world-class workplace and unlock access to services to help enhance their wellbeing. In addition, it will serve as a showcase of our brand and a welcoming place for guests to visit.”
The new building is located within a 10-mile radius of Subway’s former Milford office and offers easy access to major and alternative roadways, with 80% of Connecticut in a 50-minute drive. Subway’s Connecticut-based employees, consisting of essential business functions, such as Human Resources, Finance, and Legal, among others, have fully transitioned to the new Shelton building.
“Our new Shelton headquarters is an important step in modernizing the Subway brand and underscores our dedication to establishing an optimal workplace for innovation, collaboration and work-life balance,” said Bill Ekstrom, Director of Business Services for Subway.
Last year, Subway opened its other dual-headquarters in Miami, which is home to the brand’s consumer-facing functions, as well as Latin America regional office staff. The location of Subway’s Miami office enables a stronger integration with the Miami-based Independent Purchasing Cooperative, Subway’s franchisee-owned purchasing and supply chain cooperative.
