Subway® Expands Presence in Switzerland and Liechtenstein with Convenience House Schweiz AG

New agreement will more than double the brand’s presence in these countries

ZURICH (August, 15 2024) – Subway®, one of the world’s largest restaurant brands, announced a new master franchise agreement with Convenience House Schweiz AG, through its subsidiary company SUB License AG, to further strengthen the brand’s presence in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Under the partnership, Convenience House Schweiz AG will acquire the exclusive rights to manage and develop all Subway locations in the market. The agreement, which includes opening more than 70 restaurants over the next seven years, will more than double the brand’s current footprint in the area.

“Subway restaurants in Switzerland and Liechtenstein are incredibly popular, and demand from guests looking for a convenient, affordable and satisfying meal, continues to rise,” said Carrie Walsh, President of Subway EMEA. “Convenience House Schweiz AG and its founders bring decades of convenience retail experience and market expertise that will enable us to accelerate our growth in the region while continuing to elevate our food and guest experience.”

Prioritizing guest experience and accessibility, Convenience House Schweiz AG’s focus will include ensuring existing and new restaurants are in Subway’s modernized image, and implementing in-restaurant digital enhancements, including self-serve kiosks, to improve ordering and operational efficiencies.

“Subway is a well-established, globally recognized brand with dedicated franchisees and a loyal consumer base,” said Sebastian Becker, CEO of Convenience House Schweiz AG. “We are committed to bringing guests the freshly made, craveable food that has made Subway a favorite in the quick service restaurant industry, while also driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of guests.”

“The new partnership with Subway opens up exciting opportunities for brand development in the Switzerland and Liechtenstein markets,” said Markus Laenzlinger, President of the Convenience House Schweiz AG Board of Directors. “We look forward to cementing Subway’s position as the undisputed sandwich leader among guests and propelling the brand to new heights.”

As part of its international growth strategy, Subway plans to double the number of restaurants across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the coming years and continues to seek strong partners, like Convenience House Schweiz AG, to support the brand on its journey.
